Our Papers

For as long as she can remember, even before letterpress printing entered the picture, Nina dreamed of having her own paper shop. We love paper. We've spent years searching out the highest quality, most sustainable, and insanely gorgeous options available, and we're immensely proud of the unique options we offer. We're constantly adding new papers and are more than happy to seek out others with your specifications. On this page we'll profile a few of our favorites that we tend to keep in stock. Request samples to be mailed to you, or make an appointment to come by the shop and see them for yourself! For ease with pricing, we've divided our papers into levels:

Paper Level 1

Our 100% recycled (70% PIW, 30% PCW), processed chlorine free, Smooth Cotton Paper is our go to letterpress stock for business cards, invitations, and coasters. At 140# and available in 3 shades of white, it takes a deep letterpress impression beautifully and also folds and trims like a dream. Its silky smooth texture gives print projects a modern, fresh feel.



Oh yes, you can have your project letterpress printed on Elephant Poo Paper. Don't worry - all the actual poo has been thoroughly cleaned off, and the remaining soft fibers (conveniently processed by elephant tummies) are mixed with 100% PCW paper to form unique, fibrous sheets in a beautiful array of colors. Chlorine free, handmade, and colored with water-soluble dyes, this paper is best printed and affixed to a more rigid backer like our Entwine Pocket Invitations.

Although we're deeply saddened that our Textured Cotton Paper has ceased being made, we'll continue to offer it as long as our stock holds out. Made out of old t-shirts that didn't sell at Goodwill (talk about Post Consumer Waste!) and chlorine-free, we also suggest pairing this paper with a coordinating backer sheet due to its softer nature.



300gsm Eco Rag Paper is an enviably smooth, hefty and fairly rigid stock. Letterpress prints on it are crisp and deep, perfect for business cards or invitations with edge painting. Also available in double thick 220# in Paper Level 2.

Paper Level 2

We have our thick, toothy 110# Artemis Paper custom handmade for us, frequently out of our own project trimmings. 100% recycled (varying amounts of PIW and PCW) and chlorine-free, this is the first paper we recommend for out Show Poster Wedding Invitations. We achieve a delicious letterpress bite into this paper, and it's thick enough for 2 sided printing as long as the impression is minimal on the back. See "Custom Paper" below for info on having this paper made to order.

600gsm Eco Rag Paper is an enviably smooth, double thick and rigid stock. Letterpress prints on it are crisp and deep, and it is suitable for double sided printing with some limitations.

Paper Level 3

Does your project need some serious heft? Our double thick 220# Artemis Paper has the same delicious handmade texture as the 110#, and twice the ability to accept letterpress impression on both sides. This is also a great choice for super rigid coasters with custom die cut shapes.




Looking for a cotton letterpress paper that comes in a variety of colors? Twinrocker Handmade Paper is available in several weights and finishes, and has a subtley rough texture.

Custom Paper

One of the most unique options we offer at our shop is the ability to have our Artemis Paper custom made to order.

• If you're feeling particularly green or are planning a sustainable event, send us your junk mail and scrap papers (rules apply) and we'll have it turned into new paper for your letterpress print projects. If you want to go the extra mile, the collect paper items at the end of your event and have it made into paper again for Thank You cards.
• We can have your paper custom color matched to your table linens, a favorite pair of shoes, or your childhood teddy bear.
• Have plantable seeds (wildflowers, fruit, or veggies!) mixed in so instead of ending up in a landfill, your paper will be reincarnated.
• Add texture and personality by including bits of a beloved (but no longer wearable) t-shirt, chunks of old love letters, confetti, threads, dried flowers from your bridal bouquet, crayon shavings, photos, pine needles...we'll let you know before we begin how the things you'd like in your paper will potentially affect usability.
